Responding To Road Accident Victims

Roadside accidents happen all often. It’s only a matter of time before you are the one to stumble upon a road accident.

Thousands of lives would be saved if more people invested in ACLS Training in New York. What makes us say that?

There is a delay in the medical response given to victims which can make their injuries turn for the worst. Paramedics can’t travel at the speed of light. If someone with First Aid CPR Training in The Bronx, New York, or someone who has even the smallest knowledge about first aid were around, the survival rates would drastically increase.

MedLife CPR, LLC is here to turn you into that someone. Here’s how you should respond as a first-responder to a roadside accident:

  • Call an ambulance

This is the first thing you should do. Cal 911 or your local emergency response numbers to inform them of the situation. Give as many details as you can so the paramedics have a rough idea of what to expect.

  • Assess the scene

While you may want to help ASAP, you need to be sure that you won’t be putting your life in danger as well. Check the scene if it’s safe enough for you to provide first-aid.

  • Check for injuries

Look for any signs of bleeding in the head, neck, arms, legs, abdomen, and so forth.

Apply pressure on bleeding wounds to prevent severe blood loss.

  • Expect spinal injuries

These are common in victims of road accidents. Do not move the victims unless necessary.
